What you need
- A Medtronic Simplera or Guardian sensor, with your readings reaching CareLink from your Medtronic app.
- The CareLink Connect app, to create a care partner account.
- About five minutes, and access to your main CareLink account to approve the partner.
How it works
CareLink lets a care partner follow your readings. Ando uses that same door: you create a partner account just for Ando, link it to your main account, then sign in with it from Ando on Medtronic’s own sign-in page. Medtronic gives Ando an access token; Ando never sees or stores your CareLink password, and it only reads your glucose.
Step 1: create a partner account for Ando
- Download CareLink Connect.
If you already use it, log out for now.
- Create a new partner account.
Use it only for Ando. A separate email address keeps things simple.
- Request to follow your main account.
From the partner account, send a request to follow your main personal CareLink account.
Step 2: approve the request
- Approve it from your main account.
Accept the partner’s request to follow you.
- Sign out of CareLink Connect.
Log the partner account out of CareLink Connect, so it is only used in Ando.
Step 3: connect CareLink to Ando
- Choose Medtronic in Ando.
During sign-up, or later under your sensor settings. Ando opens a short tutorial with the steps above.
- Pick your region.
United States for CareLink US accounts, Outside US for all others.
- Sign in on Medtronic’s page.
Tap Continue to CareLink and sign in with the partner account. Medtronic may show a security check or ask for a verification code.
- Wait a moment.
Your readings show up within a few minutes, and from then on Ando keeps up on its own.
If it doesn’t connect
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| This care partner account is not linked to any patient | The follow request hasn’t been approved yet. Approve it from your main account (step 2), then sign in again. |
| CareLink sign-in could not be verified | The sign-in didn’t finish. Try again, and complete any security check or code Medtronic asks for. |
| Your CareLink session has expired | Open Ando and sign in to CareLink again. Ando sends one notification when this happens. |
| Country not supported by CareLink | CareLink isn’t available for that country. Check the region you picked. |
| Connected, but no new readings | Check that your Medtronic app shows current readings and that your phone is online, so readings reach CareLink. |
If you sign in with the partner account elsewhere, CareLink may end Ando’s session. Keep it for Ando and use your main account everywhere else.

Questions people ask
Which Medtronic sensors work with Ando?
Medtronic Simplera and Guardian sensors whose readings reach CareLink from your Medtronic app.
Why do I need a separate partner account?
A care partner account lets Ando follow your readings without using your own login. Keeping it just for Ando means signing in elsewhere never interrupts Ando’s access, and your main account stays yours alone.
Does Ando see my CareLink password?
No. You sign in on Medtronic’s own CareLink page inside the app. Medtronic then gives Ando an access token, which Ando encrypts before storing. Your password is never stored by Ando.
Why did Ando ask me to reconnect Medtronic?
CareLink sessions can expire. When that happens, Ando sends one notification asking you to sign in to CareLink again; your readings fill back in once you do.
Does Ando replace my Medtronic app?
No. Your Medtronic app keeps reading your sensor and uploading to CareLink; Ando reads from CareLink. Keep the Medtronic app running and your phone online.
